I read this book when I was in fifth grade in 1990. It forever changed my life. I identified with all of the characters in the book, specifically with Bradley Chalkers. I was Bradley Chalkers, only I was a girl. Carla was able to instill kindness and understandoing in me throug her character. This book is one of the best I have read to date. Total must have.
