Vietnam war story
This book written by Walter Dean Myers is a gut-twisting Vietnam War novel. Reviewed by the Publishers weekly and said to be “ Heartbreaking.” It was that generation’s most powerful Vietnam story. Because it was such a big dill at that period of time. So much so that a lot of people who will read this book will agree with what they said about the book.
In the novel “Fallen Angels” it starts off with a solder talking about killing some cogs, thinking, he was in Vietnam already. But when they got there all they did was sit around and do nothing. The first character that got introduced was Peewee when he was talking about killing cogs. Then it was Perry because he was talking about Peewee. Perry ends up being the narrator. Everything was fin until Peewee got to where ever they were going because he wanted to fit with every buddy. They are going over there to tri and stop the war. But in steed there is a lot of conflict and fits between them when a person dies in a small fire fit. But at the same time it brings them together.
There is also a lot of conflict with racism, fits within the platoon, and the Vietnamese. There is a lot of anger between all of the solders. The death of just one brings them all together just for a slit moment and then it goes back to the way it was. Theirs only one friendship in this book and that’s with Peewee and Perry. They have been friends since the start of the book. Peewee in the middle of the book starts to look out for Perry more. Theirs not only war between the Americans and the Vietnamese theirs war between soldiers. The longer they stay together the more they start to fit. You would think that a war will bring people together instead it poles them apart.
Over this entire book is good to read for readers who like war stores and some comedy. It has some action but a lot of intrusting points. Just stay with it and you will find that you will come to like this book as much as I did. Reading this book makes you start to look for the next book that Dean Myers wrote.
