There are more books than the mind can read on the planet earth in a year. There are fewer books that my mind will actually finish in a week. Because of Winn-Dixie is one of the books that I read in less than a week. This book is by Kate Dicamillo one of the best author’s to me. I read this book because of what it was about and what she portrayed. Rather than just a person finding a dog there was always a story behind a story. Indiana Opal lives in a trailer with her dad the pastor. The main character is well of course Indiana Opal. The day that she goes to the Winn-Dixie which in the south is the Grocery Store, a stray dog causes a commotion. “What is a dog doing in here? Someone call the dog pound!” And that is when Indiana Opal finds Winn-Dixie. “Wait it’s mine, don’t call anyone!” She takes this ratty, dirty, skinny dog by all the fat he had and slid him out the door, and as Indian turned she realized that he was smiling. That is when Indiana knew that this dog and she were going to have a lot in common. And because of were she found the dog of her dreams, her only friend, she named him Winn-Dixie. The hook of this book for me was how much Indiana loved her dog. I love my dog so much and many times Winn-Dixie runs away in the book and Indiana cries every time. Same with me, when my dog ran away I always cried and “because of Winn-Dixie” not being with her Indiana wasn’t the same. Books that relate to me I am usually stray towards more just than any random book. That is the reason I gave this book a 10. I very rarely like books so much that I would give them a perfect 10 out of 10. This book showed a lot of personality not only in the person but in the dog. Not a lot of books show personality in an animal but that is why I like Because of Winn-Dixie. I love the book so much I can’t really think of anything to change. It is a perfect book and I recommend it to anyone exactly the way it is!
