J. J. Richards writes the following about Jack Pumpkinhead of Oz :
In which Peter from THE GNOME KING OF OZ lands in Oz, right outside Jack Pumpkinhead's pumpkin house! They try to go to the Emerald City, but get lost in a city of chimmineys, Scares (who are horrbile looking) and get picked up by a live Christmas Tree. Soon Peter is captured by the wicked Mogodore-the Baron of Baffleburg with his new friends Belfaygor the Baron with the Endless Beard and Snif, who is an Iffin. (A Griffin thats lost it's grrrr) Now only Jack Pumpkinhead can save Oz from Mogodore. He takes the Magic Flagon and is whisked off to Ev where the Red Jinn of Ev lives. He is encased in a red jar and can retire to it at will like a turtle. He helps Jack save Oz...but can a pumpkinhead make it to Oz in time before Mogodore marries Queen Ozma and destroys everything?

This is a VERY good story and if you look at the color plates from the 1929 edition, the Red Jinn of Ev who makes his first appearence here looks quite funny compared to the other books he is in. (THE PURPLE PRINCE OF OZ, THE WISHING HORSE OF OZ small part, THE SILVER PRINCESS IN OZ) JACK PUMPKINHEAD OF OZ was published in 1929 by the Reilly and Lee Co.
