Ted D. writes the following about The Watsons Go to Birmingham 1963 :
An African American family living in Flint, Michigan is surrounded by the winter in their non-heated home decides to take a road trip to Birmingham, Alabama where Grandma Sands lives. On their trip wierd things happen to them.I guess that is why they are called the Wierd Watsons.

The Watsons go to Birmingham by Christopher Paul Curtis is a great book. It is a funny book with a good plot. It is realistic fiction. I would recommend this book to the 4th through 6th grade. It is not a hard book to read but it has some minor language. If you are a person who likes realistic fiction in the 1900's this book will be great for you.
