Sanam writes the following about After :
School has become a prison, no one knows why, and there’s no way to stop it. Tom is a seventeen-year-old student who goes to Central High School in a small town in Massachusetts. Tom is a normal teen until something goes wrong. Tom and his three friends Brian, Avery, and Silas are in first period math when the nightmare begins. Everyone’s cell phones ring. The parents tell their children there was a shooting in a school forty miles away from Central. Eleven people were killed in the shooting. Everyone’s life is changed because of the shooting. All the schools in the state step up on protection. Central High hires a new staff member a Crisis Counselor named Dr.Willner. Everyone is scared of Dr.Willner. Students fear looking at him and worse, they fear going to his office. Dr.Willner creates new furious rules everyday, and he also changes rule to make them worse. He starts sending e-mails home to all the parents to inform them about the new rules. Some students that break the rules are sent away to camps or just disappear. Find out how far Dr.Willner goes for protection, and how far the students go to stop Dr.Willner. I recommend After to any one who likes a good mystery, or even a very suspenseful book. Prose does a great job writing the book because she adds more suspense on every page. Prose adds clues so the reader can foreshadow what’s coming . After is a must read.
