Patrick C. writes the following about My Side of the Mountain :
I read the book My Side of the Mountain by: Jean George. It was about a boy who lived in New York. His name was Sam Gribley. He ran away from home to search for his grandpa's land in the Catskills Mountains. This book reminds me of a movie I saw. A little girl got lost in the woods. In the book I read he didn't get lost though. He wanted to be in the woods. The writer could have improved the book by not telling so much about how he made things and how he made his supper. The book was very detailed. He could have took away a lot of that stuff and the book would have been better and more fun for the reader. I rated the book 4.5. It was ok. There were some interesting parts, but not a lot. Most of the time Sam was just sitting around or going to gather food for his meal. The writer should have added more exciting events. I liked the front of the book the best, because it was more exciting when he was trying to get away and not have anybody take him back to his house. I would recommend this book to somebody who is in to hunting and into wilderness type things.
