Haley writes the following about Ella Enchanted :
This book is of magic, romance, and adventure. It starts with a new born baby named Ella being given a terrible gift of obedience. Meaning she has to do anything anyone tells her to. As she grows up her Mother becomes sick and dies. At her Mothers funeral she meets Prince Charmont or Char. He comforts her knowing how she feels being through his own Mother's death. Now her father( she doesn't like him very much) decides to remarry to a terrible woman and her two daughters. It's a classic Cinderella story. One night Ella decides to escape and beg Lucinda(the fariy who gave her her gift) to take it back. Their cook Mandy(her bestfriend in the house) brings her into her room and gives her a magical gift. This book is nothing like the movie. If you've seen the movie but not read the book I recomend doing so. It's an amazing plot with lots of vived charecters and a great ending.
