Mallory writes the following about The Night Journey :
I like it because it is exciting, fun, and it is easy for kids like me to read. I think it is for ages 9 and up, and it does a good job at describing about her family's escape plan. It is about a 13-year old girl named Rachel that imagines that her daily visit with her Great Grandmother, Mana Sashie, will be just another boring duty till Sashie starts to tell the story of her life in old Russia. Soon she finds herself caught up in Sashie's tale of a distant time, a time when the Jews were forced to serve in the Czar's armies, or they were brutally murdered in programs, a time when a 9 year old girl named Sashie devised a wonderful plan for her and her family's escape.
