James writes the following about Kabumpo in Oz :
In which Kabumpo the Elegant Elephant and Prince Pompa must run away, so that Pompa can marry a Proper Princess. They suggest Princess Faleero of Follensby Forest, who is old hag but is far too old for Pompa! Hearing of Princess Ozma of Oz, they set out for the Emerald City. But Ruggedo the former (G)nome King, who now lives in the Land of Oz, has got his evil mind back, and with Glegg's box of tricks, becomes huge and lifts the Emerald City up on his head! Will Kabumpo and Pompa ever be able to save the Emerald City? KABUMPO IN OZ was the 16th Oz book and was published in 1922. It is one of my favourite ones, and it was one of John R. Niell, the illustrator's favourite's too. He praised the publishers, Reilly and Lee for letting Thompson write the books. One thing I find disturbing with Thompson's books are how the Nomes are changed to the Gnomes and how the Gillikin Country is changed to the Gilliken Country. A great book, though!
