| Materials : - story book, flannel board, rexo sheet
| Introductory Questions : - discussion on the day we celebrate Halloween. Brainstorm ideas or scary things that we associate with Halloween

| Introductory Activity : Chart out children's answers to question regarding Halloween. Introduce In the Dark Dark Woods. Emphasize D sound and the repetition of In a dark dark wood. Have children state after each what was in the dark dark wood first, second, etc.Read the story and have the children repeat and share aloud the repetitive words in the story
| Body : do a shared reading with the class, have children read with you and tell what comes next, etc.Play the tape and have children read along and point to where they start to read, turn the page, etc. Do pre- reading skills as they are listening and sharing.
| Conclusion Activity : Make a rexo which they need to cut up the pictures of the events in a dark dark wood. Give children a long sentence strip. Have them place the events of the story in the order that they occurred. Discuss math first, second third, and last. Or you can number the pictures so that they can do the sequencing with number and picture.

| Evaluation Activity : check children's work to see if they could follow the sequence of events. Do another story or rhyme and see if theycan understand sequencing. Place flannel board materials in a center for children to continue to practice this skill.
