Objectives :

1. To define the term global warming. 2. To find out how global warming affects me. 3. To find out how global warming affects the world. 4. To determine how global warming affects the world's climate. 5. To discover if an "ABRUPT CLIMATE CHANGE" due to globalwarming can cause dramatic and terrifying storms. 6. To identify 10 ways thaat YOU can prevent global warming.

Materials :

  • Computer with Internet access
  • Poster Board
  • Drawing paper
  • art supplies

Introductory Questions :

  • Let's visit the world through the Internet and find out if people are noticing
  • changes in their environment.......coastlines that are slowly diminishing,
  • changes in temperatures, and more violent storms than in years past.
  • Global Warming affects us all throughout the world! Let's investigate.....

Introductory Activity :

Go to: www.undoit.org/ Look up ?What is global warming? and watch the video that explains it in graphics.

Body :

PART 1: On that same page, visit the link called ?How could global warming affect me?? Using the interactive map, find your region of the United States, and make a poster of the five impacts on the population when living in your region. PART 2: Go to: www.undoit.org Link to ?What is global warming?? Link to ?The Big Picture?. After viewing the slide show, write an essay on your reaction to this vivid picture of what is happening to our world.

Conclusion Activity :

Students will create a poster to be displayed in the hallways noting the 10 things that an individual can do to prevent global warming. Education is the only way that we can prevent the new generation from making the mistakes of the previous generation. We must all take part in saving our planet! Student Activity 6: Go to: www.net.org Link to Global Warming Link to ?You Can Make A Difference? Make a poster of the ?Top 10 things YOU can do to help reduce global warming pollution?. We can then tell our school how each and everyone of us can help save our planet!
